HOW UNTRAINING WORKS
• Participants typically include employees of a department, work group or project team, including the manager, supervisor or sponsor (ideally 25 max).
• Our coach joins the group to organize and facilitate Idea Labs and Team Labs, during which employees get to know each other better and work with people they might not regularly.
• The Idea and Team Lab events can be 1-4 hours each, one time or many. In many cases, we find 2-hour sessions work best, one or two times a week for 6-8 weeks.
• During these sessions, participants learn how to develop ideas, prioritize ideas to pilot or take forward, identify how to pilot an idea, conduct a pilot, track and document things gone right/things gone wrong, problem solve as a team and report on progress.
• We focus the ideas around how to make the department work better, break down silos or develop a better workplace.
While developing and implementing ideas in small teams, our embedded coaches address people issues as they naturally occur – unclear communication, intimidation, conflicts, naysayers, etc. We call time-outs and turn these non-productive behaviors into teachable moments. Our real-time coaching addresses people issues out in the open.
We provide directly applicable tools, techniques and coaching to help the group overcome the issue – to clarify communications, resolve conflicts, bring out the good in naysayers, and other people skills that make or break a team and its performance. We help participants understand how their behaviors can help or hurt the team and its productivity.
As the Idea and Team Labs iterate the second, third and more times, the ideas typically get bigger and the learning goes deeper. When ideas involve other departments or require investment in time or money, our coaches work hands-on to prepare team members to meet with other departments or make a presentation to management.
This immersive learning provides participants fundamental business and leadership skills, preparing your future leaders with:
• Team leadership and effective team participation
• Continuous improvement and change processes
• Presentation and Business case skills
• Entrepreneur mindset
• Project management
• And much more!
